Urban goes SubUrban - Soul Whyte Concert serves hip hop club-style to energetic fans
November 30-2008 8pm - The concert blew the roof off of the Shell Theatre! Centre Stage - DJ Creeasian introduced the mood and music. The show opened with the slick moves of the Shadow Twins from 3rd Street Beat. K-Riz cranked up the crowd with stellar raps. The crowd was wowed by the big performance of 3 strong Darkson Tribe. The turntables were in action even during the intermission - and then… the second set started with the darkness and the beats - then a blast of light and the music to “Everybody Dance” cranked up the crowded theatre! Soul Whyte had hit the stage!! He grabbed the audience and pulled them through and into the beats and tunes from his album, Locker 149. The crowd chanted along in RSVP, the crowd sang along to his songs, cheered when Jing joined in for “All I Wanna Do”, lit up their cell phones on “So Surreal” and got the party started when he covered Usher’s “Love in this Club” with K-Riz adding the raps. Soul Whyte filled up the edges of the theatre with his voice on Mario’s “How do I Breathe?”. Every age group joined in with “Right Back Where We Started From.” The crowd danced and rushed the stage for “Suga Suga” and gave Soul Whyte an encore!! This was an interactive show mixing members of Edmonton area hip hop heavies - a real treat for the City and fans of urban music.
